Carissa MacLennan

I majored in Graphic Design at the University of Minnesota. After interning at the Minnesota Population Center, a University demographic research cooperative, I went on to family owned and operated White House Custom Colour, where I worked for nearly four years. My work there ranged from digital, print, branding, illustration and more. From there, I moved onto corporate work at Patterson Dental, focusing on digital and print. Recently I’ve landed at Spiro, part of the GES Collective, where I get to create everything from digital marketing content to large scale graphics and bring memorable experiences to life!

I balance my day job with personal creative work, like watercolor and soap making. In fact, I run my own bath and body company, Alma Sol. If you haven’t tried handmade soap yet, you’re missing out!

My creative approach—no matter the medium—is to first understand the problem. Do we need to increase engagement or create excitement around a new product launch? Once I’ve understood what the client is trying to achieve, I start thinking conceptually and present a variety of possible solutions. My zone of genius in design would be in brand and identity. I can easily modernize the look and feel of a brand and it feels like play!

Can you present me with my next challenge? I’m ready to grow and I’m available for freelance projects!
